Applicability
This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) applies to the following web sites:
myFICO.com, fico.org, and
InsuranceScore.com (collectively, the “Web Sites”).
Where a portion of this Policy does not apply to all of the Web Sites, that will be indicated in the Policy. Information posted on FICO® Forums is public information and is not covered by this Privacy Policy.
General
We understand and respect your concerns about privacy and the security of personal information, and
we want you to feel comfortable using our Web Sites. Maintaining the security of your personally
identifiable information is important to us, as is giving you choices as to how that information is
used and shared. We've created this Privacy Policy to provide you with information about data security
and the privacy practices and policies applicable to the Web Sites identified above.
Types of Information we Collect
Information collected online is usually categorized as either general or
personally identifiable.
General Information
The Web Sites (other than InsuranceScore.com) may collect general information, which
refers to data that is generally not tied back to a specific individual. The information we collect
(either directly or through the use of a third-party tracking system) includes:
- The IP address of the computer making the request (Usually this is not your personal computer, but a computer used by your internet service provider or company network).
- The URL that is being requested.
- The date and time of the request.
- The browser type and operating system used to make the request.
- Referring URL
We also may collect aggregate search terms from search engine referrals to determine what
information visitors are searching for when they find our Web Sites.
All of this general information is used to administer and improve our Web Sites and diagnose
any technical problems which may occur with our servers.
Personally Identifiable Information
Personally identifiable information refers to data that tells us specifically who you are,
such as your name and email address, which may be collected in addition to the general data described above.
The Web Sites may collect personal information through correspondence, by email or via our contact
forms. (This is the only way personally identifiable information is collected by InsuranceScore.com.)
If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence. We use the information provided so
that we may respond to the email. Unless you give your consent, this information will not be used to
contact you for purposes other than to respond to your inquiry and it will not be shared with third
parties for their marketing purposes.
We also collect nonpublic personal information about you on myFICO.com from the following sources:
- Information we receive from you, such as when you register for and order the products and services we provide, whether alone or in conjunction with other companies (collectively, the “Products”), or when you complete applications and other forms.
- Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates and other companies that help us provide the Products.
- Information that indicates the source of a referral when you have reached one of the Web Sites through a referral from another site.
- Information we receive from third parties, such as consumer reporting agencies and companies that provide demographic information.
The personally identifiable information that we collect from you on myFICO.com may include the following:
- First and last name
- Current and previous home address, including street name, city or town, state, and zip code
- Email address
- Telephone numbers
- Social security number
- Driver's license number
- Credit Card Number
- Information found in your credit report, including your credit score (if you order a product that includes a credit report and/or score)
- Income (if you choose to provide this information in connection with the Loan Center)
- Mortgage Information (if you choose to provide this information in connection with the Loan Center)
This information is necessary for us to verify your identity and provide the Products to you. If you are unwilling to provide this information to us, we will not be able to deliver the Products to you.
Putting Your Information to Work
We use this personally identifiable information to provide the Products to you and to provide support
for the Products, as well as for various internal business purposes such as: customer service; fraud
prevention; internal investigations; providing you information relating to the Products; and broadening
and improving the services and products we and our affiliates can offer.
If you have joined our privileges program, we may also use this information to provide updates and to
contact you regarding products and services we think you might be interested in, depending on the
preferences you select. For more information on your choices, see the section below entitled
“Your Right to Choose.”
Disclosing Your Information
When you order a Product, we must share some of your personally identifiable information with
third parties in order to process the transaction and provide you with the Products you have ordered.
For example, we must share your credit card number with our credit card processor in order to process
your payment. We must share your name, address, and social security number with one or more of the
three major credit reporting agencies or other providers in order to obtain a credit report and
credit score to provide to you. These third parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable
information except for the purpose of providing these services. In general, we will not share your email address with any third party. However, if you specifically authorize us to provide your email address to a third party, we may do so in accordance with your instructions.
If you choose to submit your personal information to us as part of a request to be contacted by a lender or lenders, we will supply your personal information to the lender(s), and one or more lender(s) will use the information you have provided to contact you regarding the specific product which you have requested. Your submission of the questionnaire is your consent for us to disclose your information to any such lender. We do not have control over the use of your personal information once we provide it to the lenders, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Your rights with respect to their treatment of your information will be governed by their own policies.
Consistent with the federal financial privacy laws, we may also disclose some of the nonpublic
personal information we collect, as described above, to selected unaffiliated third parties
(companies that are not owned or controlled by us) for various business purposes, including joint
business efforts for related and unrelated products and services:
- Financial services providers, such as banks and mortgage lenders.
- Non-financial companies such as retailers, direct marketers, and publishers.
- Companies with which we have joint marketing agreements (see discussion below regarding collection of information by third-party sites and sponsors).
- Others, as permitted by law
We do not share any of your personally identifiable information with unrelated third parties
for their own marketing purposes without your consent. However, we may disclose any of the
information we collect to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf and companies
that are related to us by common ownership or affiliated with us by common control. We will not
disclose to third parties the credit report or credit score obtained in providing any Product
without your prior specific consent.
If Fair Isaac is acquired by or merges with another company, or if the business of the
myFICO® division of Fair Isaac is acquired by another company, information will be transferred
to the acquiring company. We would notify you of such an event as provided in the
Changes section of this Policy section below. Fair Isaac may also
share information to the extent we believe it is necessary to comply with the law (e.g.,
in response to subpoenas or government investigations), to assert or defend legal claims,
and in order to investigate or respond to actual or suspected illegal activities, fraud,
and threats of physical harm.
Your Right to Choose
You have the ability to opt out of certain types of information sharing and communications.
You may opt out of certain communications if you prefer that we not send you newsletters or offers regarding products and services. If you exercise this opt-out right, we will not send you any newsletters or product or service offers.
You may opt out of information sharing if you prefer that we not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. If you exercise this opt-out right, we will not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
You may exercise your right to opt out of communications and information sharing when you create your myFICO® account by following the instruction for opting out of the myFICO® privileges program. You may
also exercise your right to opt out any time by logging into your account at
www.myFICO.com, clicking on “Contact Preferences”, and editing
your preferences to opt out of the myFICO® Privileges Program. If you receive an email from us you may exercise your right to opt out of further email communications by following the opt-out link contained in the email.
Please note that your decision to opt out will not apply to certain disclosures that are
required for us to deliver the Products you have ordered or that are specifically permitted or
required by law. For example, the Products cannot operate unless we transmit data to companies that
help us provide the Products, such as by providing us with credit reports or processing credit card
charges. Your general opt-out instructions also will not apply to specific disclosures or
communications to which you consent.
Reviewing Your Information
You will be able to change the personal information you have provided to us by logging into the
myFICO® Member Center with your login ID and password. However, for security reasons, you will not
be able to change the following information online: First Name, Social Security Number, Date of
Birth, and Gender. You can change this information by calling our customer care center. You will
also not be able to change personal information that we have obtained from third parties, such as
the information in your credit reports.
Keeping Your Information Secure
Except for the disclosures and uses described above, we restrict access to nonpublic personal
information about you to those employees and companies that need to know that information to
provide the Products to you. Those employees and companies are contractually required to maintain
the confidentiality of information provided to them and not use it except as required to provide
the Products to you or as you specifically consent. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural
safeguards to guard your nonpublic personal information. Information you provide to us when you
register for and order the Products is transmitted to us through a secure sockets layer (SSL)
transmission. In addition, information we collect is subject to numerous measures designed to
help protect it from unauthorized access or alteration, including for example, internal and
external firewalls, physical security measures, and encryption of certain information. Of course,
you must do your part to ensure the security of your information. For example, you must guard your logon ID and
password and not permit unauthorized use of your account. No security measures can provide absolute
protection of data, but we will strive to provide a superior level of protection for your information.
InfoVault and EZ Error Correct
Information in the InfoVault feature of the Suze Orman FICO® Kit and information you include in a dispute letter in EZ Error Correct is treated differently from other information we may collect from you.
The InfoVault is intended for you to store private information, including personally identifiable data regarding your accounts, contact information, social security number, medical records, and other sensitive information that you decide to store there. That information will be available to you on our site as long as your Suze Orman FICO® Kit is active.
The information you put into an EZ Error Correct dispute letter will be stored for 90 days on our servers to allow you to come back and make changes to and reprint the letter. All of that information is kept separate from any other information covered by this Privacy Policy.
Information stored in the InfoVault and put into EZ Error Correct dispute letters is your personal information and, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Privacy Policy, Fair Isaac will not use this information in any way or intentionally disclose it to any third party without your consent or as required by law.
However, we recommend that you be extremely careful about the information you decide to store in the InfoVault and include in an EZ Error Correct dispute letter. No amount of security can provide absolute protection. For example, if you were to allow your logon information to fall into the wrong hands, someone might be able to access your information in the InfoVault or the dispute letter.
Collection of Information by Third-Party Sites and Sponsors
If our Web Sites contain links to other sites, we are not responsible for the privacy practices
or content of those other sites.
The Loan Center includes advertising from Secure Rights, and all mortgage and home financing loan-related services are offered and provided by Secure Rights. Click here for more information about Secure Rights, including its privacy policies. We sometimes may offer content (e.g., promotions) that is sponsored by or co-branded with
identified third parties. By virtue of these relationships, the third parties may obtain
personally identifiable information that visitors voluntarily submit to participate in the
site activity. We have no control over these third parties' use of this information. We
will notify you at the time of requesting personally identifiable information if we will be providing this information to third parties.
What About Cookies?
A "cookie" is a small piece of information sent by a Web server and stored by the user's Web

individual user. Cookies help the browser remember some specific information. We make limited use
of cookies to make your visit to the Web Sites easier, to improve the user experience, and to identify individual users who have registered for certain products. We also use a third-party tracking service
that uses cookies to gather statistical information about how our site is used. This statistical information
is not connected to any of your personal information. See the section above titled
General Information.
